In the evening, you will be collected from your hotel for a dinner cruise on the Nile. With city lights on the river, a generous Egyptian dinner, and traditional entertainment, it is a relaxed and memorable first night before returning to your hotel.

Overnight: Cairo Marriott Hotel, Nile River, or similar — 1 night.

Meals: Dinner included.

Day 2: Fly to Luxor and Explore the Great Monuments

After breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to Cairo Airport for your flight to Luxor, where some of Egypt’s most celebrated ancient sites await.

The Great Temples of Karnak and Luxor introduce you to the scale and splendour of ancient Thebes. Karnak, on the east bank of the Nile, is an extraordinary complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons, obelisks, and sacred spaces created over many generations of pharaohs. Walking through its great halls is one of Egypt’s unforgettable experiences.

The Valley of the Kings reveals the hidden tombs of the New Kingdom pharaohs, carved deep into the desert cliffs and decorated for the journey into the afterlife.

The Valley of the Workers offers a more intimate insight into daily life, as this ancient village was home to the skilled artisans who created and decorated the royal tombs.

The Temple of Hatshepsut is one of the most striking monuments on the west bank. Built into a dramatic cliffside setting, it tells the story of one of Egypt’s most powerful and fascinating rulers.

Overnight: Hilton Luxor Resort, or similar — first of 2 nights.

Meals: Breakfast included; dinner at own expense.

Day 3: Abydos, the Sacred City of Osiris

After breakfast, you will travel by road to Abydos, one of ancient Egypt’s most sacred and atmospheric sites. The journey offers a glimpse of the Nile Valley beyond the main tourist routes before arriving at a place rich in history, symbolism, and quiet desert beauty.

Abydos was revered as one of ancient Egypt’s most important religious centres, closely associated with Osiris, god of the afterlife and resurrection. Long before the great tombs of Luxor, it also served as a royal necropolis for Egypt’s earliest rulers, giving the site a powerful sense of origin and spiritual importance.

The royal necropolis of Umm El Qa’ab lies out in the desert plain and contains tombs linked with Egypt’s earliest dynasties, including rulers such as Narmer. It offers a rare glimpse into the beliefs, kingship, and social order of Egypt’s formative period.

Abydos is also treasured for its beautifully preserved monuments. The Temple of Seti I is the great highlight, admired for its elegant architecture, sacred chapels, fine relief carving, and the celebrated Abydos King List, where thousands of years of kingship are recorded in stone.

Overnight: Hilton Luxor Resort, or similar — second of 2 nights.

Meals: Breakfast included; dinner at own expense.

Day 4: Departure or Onward Journey

After breakfast at the hotel, your arrangements will be tailored to your onward travel plans. You may transfer to the airport for your return journey to Cairo, or continue seamlessly to your cruise vessel for the next stage of your Egyptian adventure.
