Celebrate The Birth of the Republic!

Egyptian National Day – 23rd July 2026
Overview

Overview

Join the nationwide party on Egypt’s most important national holiday – the moment the ancient monarchy was overthrown and modern Egypt was born!

Come with us to see, feel, and hear the outpouring of national pride as Egyptians, young and old, rich and poor, farmers, merchants, and businessmen, take to the streets in celebration of the revolution that removed a king and began the country’s journey to self-determination and dignity.

We’ll leave the big cities behind as we travel to a picturesque Nile Delta Village and join the locals in an outpouring of patriotism and community, all wrapped in the reds, whites, and blacks of the Egyptian flags, adorning the streets and homes.

July 23rd

Marks the official day of celebration each year. On that day, July 23, 1952, a group of young officers, led by Gamal Abdel Nasser, overthrew Egypt’s monarchy, sending King Farouk into exile and bringing the country into the 20th century.

One Horizon invites you to join us on July 23, 2026, to experience a different type of National Day. We will visit a specially selected Delta village, known for its outpouring of energy and excitement. This annual street party pours into the village square, alive with dancing, music, games, patriotic plays, and sweets.

Your expert guide will be your connection to the displays, providing historical and cultural context and further enhancing your enjoyment of this very special day.

Two Fun Days Of Discovery

The celebrations begin as we depart Cairo, moving through the countryside where we’ll see impromptu flags, banners, and activity on this patriotic day. We will arrive at our village in time for lunch.

But this won’t be an ordinary meal, as our village hosts have prepared traditional foods for our enjoyment, as this is a day of communal feasting. We’ll dig into such dishes as Ful Medames, a specialty on National Day, with its aromas of fava beans, cumin, garlic, and lemon, served with fresh baladi bread.

Koshari follows, probably Egypt’s favorite dish, an enticing blend of chickpeas, lentils, and pasta, layered with spicy tomato sauce and onions. And then there’s ta’meya, Egyptian falafel, and sweet basbousa cake.

We’ll continue the party, even visiting the local markets as we explore the busy streets of the village. Your guide will provide introductions to the townspeople to hear their stories, appreciating the fun and enthusiasm of the day.

The Evening Lanterns Flicker

Come evening, we’ll enjoy the warmth of community throughout the village. As the golden glow of the day begins to fade, we’ll retire to our hotel. Tomorrow, we will head back to Cairo.

It’s been a day of excitement, connection, generosity, and pride as the local people, and indeed, all of Egypt, give voice to the progress that has been made over these last 70+ years.

You too can be part of this yearly celebration. Come join us for memories and moments, and an understanding of all that Egypt has become today and into the future.
