GUIDELINES FOR SELFIES WITH WILDLIFE

The Kenyan Wildlife Service (KWS) provides some useful tips on all manner of things to do with wildlife. One set of guidelines is also a powerful tool for reflection which is both simple, effective and easy to remember. It has to do with taking selfies where animals are involved. The guidelines are:
DON’T TAKE A WILDLIFE SELFIE IF:
- I’m being held, hugged or restrained
- You’re baiting me with food
- I could harm you
DO TAKE A SELFIE IF:
- You keep a safe distance from me
- I’m in my natural home
- I’m free to move, and not captive
